Cooling Center At Sierra Vista Mall

With summer approaching and weekend temperatures predicted to exceed 100, Sierra Vista Mall has partnered with the City of Clovis to serve residents during periods of extreme heat.  Residents are welcome to stay cool at Sierra Vista Mall Monday through Friday 10am to 9pm, Saturday 10am to 8pm and Sunday 11am to 6pm on any day when the National Weather Service predicts Clovis temperatures to be 100 degrees or greater.  While there, participants can expect a cool environment, and access complimentary water at the customer service booth. Non-service animals are not allowed in the mall. All Clovis residents are reminded to take the following safety precautions during extreme heat:

Slow Down - Strenuous activities should be reduced, eliminated or rescheduled to the coolest time of the day.  Individuals at risk should stay in the coolest available place, not necessarily at home.

Kohl's Open 100 Hours Straight

For the first time ever, Kohl’s will keep its doors open for more than 100 hours straight – beginning at 6 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 through 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 24.

“The holiday season is an eventful time for families, and Kohl’s is making it easy for shoppers to wrap up their last- minute gift giving with 24-hour access to Kohl’s stores right up to Christmas Eve,” said Michelle Gass, Kohl’s chief customer officer. “Not only does Kohl’s have the hottest gifts at incredible prices, now shoppers will have the added benefit of being able to check off their lists, day or night, whenever it is most convenient for them.”

Shop Safely in Clovis

Many retailers in the City of Clovis plan to open their doors to shoppers even earlier this year on Thanksgiving evening. Anxious Christmas shoppers will likely be lining up for evening and early morning promotional sales/discounts that many retailers are advertising. That means Clovis Police will offer extra patrols beginning at 7 p.m. on Thanksgiving night into Black Friday morning. Those will be followed by our regularly scheduled holiday patrols, which include officers (in patrol cars, on bikes and on foot), reserves and volunteers.

Several stores along the Shaw Avenue and Herndon Avenue corridors plan to open between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving. Officers will be looking to keep the peace in store lines in and to suppress criminal activity.
