The Clothes Closet was unanimously approved by the Buchanan School Site Council on December 18, 2012. The program goal is to provide to the needy.
Mission: To provide a helping hand to those in need during these hard economic times.
Description: We are facing hard economic times. These struggles are affecting people of all ages. We are very excited to say that we are working with Buchanan High School on creating a clothes closet on campus. This is our pilot to organizing a district-wide clothes closet for disadvantaged and homeless STUDENTS and their FAMILIES. And yes... you did read correctly... HOMELESS STUDENTS. Of the 39,000 students, (consisting of 32 elementary, 5 intermediate, and 5 high schools), approximately 25% - 35% of these families are disadvantaged (data is being compiled). Unfortunately, that number continues to increase.
