Two Cities Marathon - November 3, 2013

Sunday, Nov 3rd at Woodward Park is the place to be for this world class event. The Boston qualifier has a $4,000 prize purse!

There will also be a 2-day Sierra Pacific Orthopedic Health & Fitness Expo, Wine & Beer Gardens.

The 2-person Half Marathon Relay returns, a Half Marathon was added in Clovis, and continued support goes to the half marathon WALKERS division!

The looped marathon course starts in Fresno and runs in upscale scenic neighborhoods lined with brilliant autumn foliage.

You will enjoy running through historic Old Town Clovis (hence Two Cities) as you are cheered on by supporting spectators.

Health Center opens at Sierra Vista Elementary School

Clovis children and their families now have better access to health services at the newly expanded Sierra Vista Elementary Health Center.  Today, October 25th,  the District’s nursing services staff and families are opening the doors on the health center’s new location.  Before the addition of the building on the Sierra Vista campus, children were seen in a makeshift facility housed in the school’s former administrative offices.  Now, the Health Center, which serves approximately 30 children each day, has a home of its own.

Total Health Expo October 24th in Fresno

Total Health Expo October 24th in Fresno

The Total Health Expo is a two-day event scheduled for the weekend of November 2 and 3, 2013. Taking place at the Fresno Convention Center, Valdez Hall, it is the largest health-related event in the San Joaquin Valley. The show features local and national exhibits including: fitness and sports, health food and nutrition, weight loss, stress reduction, personal growth, auditory and dental health, as well as a variety of other traditional and holistic therapies.

Clovis West Students to Teach Elementary Students

Today, October 24th, at Clovis West High School, students will have the opportunity to teach students. A group of 48 Valley Oak Elementary School students will take a fieldtrip to Clovis West High School where students in the Advanced Placement Environmental Science class will teach them hands-on science lessons.


Groups of four elementary students will each be led by two CW students through various stations at Clovis West’s Environmental Pond. The stations include searching for macroinvertebrates; testing the water for nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorous and pH; and using microscopes to identify life found in the pond.


Free Health Fair in Sanger October 23rd

Public event to feature health screenings, help enrolling in Obamacare

Assemblymember Henry Perea (D – Fresno) and SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW) invite the public to attend a free health fair October 23 at 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Sanger featuring testing for diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol, and a chance to learn how to get healthcare coverage under Obamacare.

The event is expected to draw 200 area residents and aims to help them sign up for Obamacare, which began enrolling people in the nationwide health insurance program Oct. 1. The Sanger fair will also allow the community to enroll in CalFresh, the food assistance program for low-income Californians.
