The I Bike Fresno 2012 Campaign kicks off its 3rd Annual Million Mile Challenge on this Sunday, April 29th ahead of  National Bike Month which begins this Tuesday, May first.

The Million Mile Challenge encourages people that work, play and live in Fresno County to work together to log miles in an effort to ride a collective one million miles, while reminding them that riding a bike is not just good for personal health and the environment, but it is also fun.

“Bicycles are something that have really been relegated to just a recreational item. People don’t realize that bikes can be a great tool for transportation,” said Byron Watkins, President of the Bike Happy Foundation. “We hope through efforts like the Million Mile Challenge and our other bike month events, we can start to change peoples’ behaviors and show them that bicycles aren’t just for kids. We want people to fall in love with their bicycles again.”

Welcome Cowboy!

Welcome Cowboy!

For more than 500 cowboys and cowgirls it will be a week of qualifying before they find out whether or not they’re good enough to take a second go round during the 98th annual Clovis Rodeo beginning Thursday, April 26 and running through Sunday, April 29.

PRCA cowboys and cowgirls from all over the United States and Canada will be taking their qualifying runs for the Clovis Rodeo during the preliminary competition, or “slack” which begins on Wednesday morning and will continue each morning through Friday, April 27 prior to the rodeo performances. A cowboy, or cowgirl, is given the chance to take up to two go rounds at their timed event during qualifying. If they score high enough they are given the opportunity to come back for a final go during the rodeo performance and try for their chance at the finals held Sunday, April 29 on the last day at the Clovis Rodeo.
