Local Authors Share Their Tales of Mystery and Suspense

WHAT: A Book Barn will be hosting several local mystery & suspense authors for a reading and talk about their latest books.

WHEN: Saturday, Oct. 12 from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

WHY: October is a month for the spooky, suspenseful and unexplained. The festival is is being held to celebrate the month and these authors who have contributed to the genres of mystery and suspense.

WHO: Local authors Gloria Getman, Evelyne Holingue, Marilyn Meredith, Tony Miller, Robert O'Hanneson, and Gloria J. Ramos.

Sudz in the City hits the streets of downtown Fresno once again offering Valley residents the chance to get up close and personal with over 20 breweries and 50 different brews! This year’s event features beers from Dust Bowl, Hanger 24, Sierra Nevada, Shipyard, Tioga-Sequoia, W Brewing and many more.

Beer tasting isn’t the only thing this year’s Sudz in the City has to offer. There will be food from favorite local spots, local bands such as Motel Drive and The Experience as well as entertainment by Circus Et Cetera.

Also, presenting the Tioga Sequoia Talent Show, featuring contestants reviling their secret talents in order to win free beer for a full year.

Go online to reserve tickets today, tickets can be purchased for $35 at downtownfresno.org or will be sold at the gate for $40.

Burlington Opens for Shopping in Clovis

Burlington Opens for Shopping in Clovis

Burlington, a leading national off-price retailer, is opening a brand new location in Clovis at Village Square located at 70 W. Shaw Ave today, Friday, October 11th. The retailer will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate jobs, community, and of course, shopping.  Mayor Lynne Ashbeck will join the store leadership and associates to officially open this new location.

Along with the ceremony, Burlington will host its premier philanthropic program, Burlington Gives Back.  This program is dedicated to donating new merchandise to local charitable agencies in communities surrounding Burlington locations. The retailer’s national non-profit partner, Fashion Delivers, will work with the new store to make a contribution to locally-based Marjaree Mason Center, a charitable organization dedicated to offering shelter and supportive services to victims of domestic violence in Fresno County.
