Castle Air Museum Open Cockpit Day, August 31st

On August 31st, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Castle Air Museum located at 5050 Santa Fe Dr., in Atwater will be celebrating Open Cockpit Day. This year, as in the past, the most popular aspect of the Day will be the opening of many of the 58 aircraft which are on display at the Museum. Among those that will be open are the B-29, B-17, SR-71, B-52, KC-135, F-15, and an F-14 Tomcat of “Top Gun” fame. The Museum is world renowned, and since its beginning in 1979, has been recognized for the wonderful collection of restored military aircraft.

Superhero Breakfast August 16th

Island Waterpark is proud to announce Breakfast with Superheroes, an all-ages community benefit event to kick-start a day to celebrate local heroes on Saturday, August 16, 2014. Planning is currently underway for the two and one-half hour event, which will feature Superhero guests like Superman, Spiderman, Batman, Ironman, and Captain America. Local Heroes such as the fire department, police department, sheriff’s department, and various branches of the U.S. Military are also expected to be in attendance. A portion of the proceeds generated will be donated to the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation. Superheroes also intend to visit children at Valley Children’s Hospital on Saturday.
