Clovis Centennial Writing Contest | Arts & Culture

In preparation of the big Clovis Centennial celebration you are invited to share your thoughts about why you love Clovis.

Submissions will be accepted from December 1 to January 31, 2012.

Here are the guidelines:

K-3rd grades:

Each student should submit an original drawing showing “Why Clovis is a great place to grow up.” Students can include a short statement to accompany their picture. Those too young to write their own statement may have help with the mechanics of the writing from a parent or guardian but the content should be their own.

PRIZE: $25.00 gift certificate.

4th to 6th grades:

Each student should submit a paragraph of 250 words or more explaining why “Clovis is a great place to grow up.” The essay should be the sole original work of the student author without any outside assistance.

PRIZE: $25.00 gift certificate

7th to 8th grades:

Each student should submit an essay of 500 words or more explaining why “Clovis is a great place to grow up.” The essay should be the sole original work of the student

author without any outside assistance.

PRIZE: Kindle

9th to 12th grades:

Each student should submit an essay of 1000 words or more explaining why “Clovis is a great place to grow up.” The essay should be the sole original work of the student author without any outside assistance.

PRIZE: Kindle

Adults:

Adult should submit an essay of 1000 words or more explaining why “Clovis is a great place to live.” The essay should be the sole original work of the author without any outside assistance.

PRIZE: Kindle

Entries can be submitted to the Clovis Regional Library in person, by mail or email. All entries should be received by 1/31/12. All the winners will be announced at the birthday bash celebration on February 27th, 2012.
