New Clovis Rodeo Board Elected

The Clovis Rodeo Association came together on Thursday, May 14 for its annual membership meeting. It is an opportunity for the members to celebrate the success of the 101st Clovis Rodeo and begin planning for the coming year. During the meeting the membership also elects their eighteen member board of directors.

Clovis Rodeo Association President, Greg Gillard stated he was proud of the Association’s membership that worked so hard to host the 101st Clovis Rodeo before capacity crowds and some of the top cowboys, cowgirls and rodeo stock in the sport. He said, “This organization has been a part of our community’s history for more than 100 years and we continue to grow and build upon our rodeo’s legacy year after year.”

Slick Rock Film Festival Awards

Local videography students won awards this month at the 12th Annual Slick Rock Student Film Festival awards ceremony at the Fox Theater in Visalia.  The student film contest covers seven counties (Fresno, Tulare, Kern, King, Madera, Merced and Mariposa).

Videography teacher Dan Pearce said of James Lum's and Nick Janzen's winning music video cover, "In my professional opinion, the production and editing on this video is beyond anything that I've ever seen at the high school level (or college, for that matter). James Lum is a second year ROP video student and Nick Janzen won a total of 11 awards this year.”
