Hungry Bear Cookies has been satisfying Central Californians for over twenty years. Originating in Fresno, California, we are a company that firmly believes in using only natural, whole ingredients in every single one of our original recipes. We never have and never will use any artificial ingredients or preservatives.

Deryl Bear, the founder and developer of our delicious Hungry Bear Cookies, spent over twenty years perfecting and baking his concept of the "perfect cookie."

A microbiology graduate of California State University, Fresno, he worked as a lab technician and often baked cookies for his fellow co-workers. One evening, a co-worker asked, "Have you ever thought of marketing your cookies?" Deryl's dream was about to come true. When pondering what to name his cookie store, an I.C.U. nurse suggested "Hungry Bear Cookies."

The next day, Deryl stopped by the library and found a book entitled, 'Me and the Bears', written by author Robert Bright. The book tells the story of a little girl and all of the bears that became her friends. The pictures and personalities of the bears would later become the theme of the Hungry Bear Cookie stores. Mr. Bright gave Deryl permission to use the drawing concepts of his book and wished Deryl true success.

In 1983, Mr. Bear opened the first Hungry Bear Cookies store. That year, Hungry Bear won "Best Cookie" in the Fresno Bee newspaper's "Best Of" contest.

Soon after, the flagship Hungry Bear Cookie store opened in Fig Garden Village shopping plaza. This store remains open today, and pleases hundreds of shoppers daily.

Currently is one other Hungry Bear Cookie store to service you in the Clovis area, our Willow Station location at Willow and Nees.

Besides our signature range of award winning cookies, we have also since added cookie flavored coffees 'n ice creams for your additional cravings 'n pleasures . . .
